What if you could listen to any language at the click of a button? Translatus headphones allow you to do just that. This prototype headset I designed would enhance cross-cultural interactions by allowing users to choose the language they are hearing at any time and helping the users live-translate. That is, the audio would be translated through the headphones and fed to the user in a language of their choosing.
My initial idea for this set of headphones came about from my strong desire to learn a second language and my lack of available immersion. However, once I began work on these headphones, I realized that they opened up opportunities for interaction between people who would not normally interact because of language differences.
One major feature of the headset is the realtime changing graphics, which indicate to other people the current set language the headphones.
