Amber was one of the first students I taught in ART GR 275 (graphic design technology). One of the first things I noticed about her is her self-described “heavy creative flow”. Amber often makes several solutions for one project. I helped her figure out her natural style by encouraging her to work off the computer and integrating traditional media with digital media. I also encouraged her to use some of her process work and “failed designs” in other creative ways, such as by creating album covers.
Shown first is Amber’s solution to the final project in ART GR 275: publication design. Amber’s sense of humor and comes out in her work, and is exemplified here in the title of her piece “Avant Gardening”. Amber created the featured vinyl album designs from her process work for the publication design project. Finally, the last image is of some of her process work from a few of our class projects.
