Spring 2011 Dishes!

Monday, April 25th, 2011

Weeeeee!

Here are the latest iterations of pretty pretty dishes. They are for sale on my etsy and, more importantly, will be for sale at Craft Saturday from 12-6 PM THIS SATURDASY (the 30th) at the 4th St. Theatre in Des Moines.

There are 4 new springtime flowers stoneware plates — slightly different versions of a floral pattern (sans music by popular request). Also, I have 8 of the little birdies cup and saucer sets on cute pastel dinnerware.

MOVING SALE — Etsy Blowout

Monday, March 7th, 2011

I am so going to sound like a used car salesman, but EVERYTHING MUST GO!

Okay, maybe not that annoying. But still — 40-60% off everything in the store.

I’m doing this for a few reasons.

1) I am moving. And I would like to deplete my inventory before I do so.
2) I am creating my spring 2011 line of dishes and want all of last year’s line gone
3) I am going to revamp my etsy store with new photography and package things all fancy and fabulous

So check it out. Oh also, free domestic shipping with the code “FREEBIRD”.

FO Friday: Cake Stands

Friday, October 8th, 2010

Yay! I’m excited that I finally got around to making my lovely cake stands from vintage plates and milk glass bud vases. They turned out beautiful and eclectic.

I’m  not sure where I’m going to sell them other than at local craft shows — I don’t trust the USPS to get these shipped in one piece. They’re also really heavy, so shipping would be super expensive.

What do you guys think? I have 2 more that I didn’t photograph, but I would love to make more!

I’ve been blogged!

Friday, June 18th, 2010

A fellow craftster just blogged about my gorgeous yellow water pitcher and some of my other ceramics in the craftster.org blog.  I’m really flattered. You should check it out!

It’s not often that I get press, so I’m pretty excited about this. :)

the fabulous work of sewzinski

Wednesday, July 29th, 2009

A while back a co-worker of mine introduced me to sewzinski‘s handmade embroidered leather wallets. He had ordered one for his wife and was so excited when it was finished that he brought it in to show me.

I was blown away. How much time went into this little piece of art? More than I have patience for, that’s for sure. I immediately searched her out on twitter, flickr and etsy.

sewzinski mainly focuses on custom made items. each of her creations is unique and different.  She rescues discarded leather items and renews them into beautiful little usable pieces of art.  The name “sewzinski” is in honor of her mother who loved to sew and taught her how to cross stitch and do some embroidery.

I pulled out some of my favorites just to show some of her beautiful work, but in no way does this represent all her creative capabilities. For that, you’ll have to check out her flickr photos (and that, I am sure, does not even represent her full artistic breadth).

I absolutely love this little gray wallet with the flowers. Beautiful. I’m a sucker for pretty things, and this hits the spot.

it’s like buttah.

large wallet back

I actually “oohed” and “ahhed” when I came across this large wallet image. The waves on the back are oh-so-glorious. I love the attention to detail and the fact that she scalloped the edges on this one to match the shapes found in the waves.

She picks fun fabrics for the inside of her wallet that coordinate nicely. It’s just a lovely surprise added to these creations.

Beautiful sugar skull wallet. Love all the colors and patterns on this one.

I saved my favorite for last!  I’m also a HUGE sucker for anything punk … and in fuschia or pink or purple. Check out this awesome small wallet  — with zebra print.  Yes. I’m a sucker for animal print too!

LOVE it. You absolutely have to check out the rest of her work. It’s just amazing!
