Happy Halloween!

Sunday, October 31st, 2010

I don’t have a photo of my Halloween costume just yet, but let me just say it’s pretty awesome.

I spent most of my time in my costume at Market Day yesterday.  I think the costume helped my salesmanship. :)

Here’s a few pix from yesterday’s sale … it was a great time and sadly, the last one for me this year. I will be at Craft Saturday next weekend though.

My booth in all its glory … :) Check out all the wallets!

More of my lovelies — it never occurred to me before to have a SIGN describing what my dishes are. I think that helped sales. People saw that they weren’t just plain dishes.

A twoface mask by DaniAWESOME, who’s also pictured below as Flo, the Progressive lady. I stood by her all day and not once did she try to sell me insurance.

Fabulous day! Sad it’s the last one of the season for me, but there is next year! Be sure to go to the Black Friday sale in November at the Pappajohn building in downtown Des Moines.

Market Day on Saturday!

Tuesday, May 25th, 2010

Hey all!

It’s that magical time again. That’s right. MARKET DAY!

If y’all don’t know what Market Day is by now, you should probably get out from under that rock you’ve been hiding under.

Market Day is a casual monthly market for art, vintage, found items, homemade and handmade goods. Artists are encouraged to look beyond what they traditionally retail and bring a fun and inexpensive mix of items. Think arts festival meets bohemian garage sale. It is always free-to-attend. Six of the seven dates overlap with the nearby Des Moines Downtown Farmers’ Market. It’s is a seasonal event and runs the last Saturday of every month, May through October. We also have a special Black Friday sale the day after Thanksgiving.  Market Day is brought to you by make/break.

So basically, lots of cool people peddling pretty things.

It’s from 9 AM–2 PM this Saturday in a warehouse off of MLK. Here’s a map.

I’m going to be selling a lot of things and offering all of my pieces from 2009 at an INSANELY low price.  I’m having a trunk sale. Everything in the trunk must go. I’m also moving this week, so anything I don’t have to move, I’d be glad to offer at a fabulously low price.

In the meantime, enjoy this video of Cat Rocketship, one of the make/break peeps, chatting with me about Market Day.  For up-to-date info about Market Day, follow them on twitter.

For a preview of what I’m selling, check my etsy or my flickr. I sell things on etsy at a higher price than what I sell at Market Day, so for better deals and steals, hit up Market Day next Saturday!

Market Day is Approaching

Sunday, May 16th, 2010

The first Market Day of the season is approaching — and FAST.  It’s May 29th from 9a–2p.

I’m frantically gathering pieces and making new pieces for the event. I’m also moving from Des Moines to Ames that weekend, so it should be pretty stressful. Stressful, but good.

Aside from MY changes, there have been a few changes in Market Day as well.

1) Market Street Media Foundry is defunct and has transformed into make/break and moved into a new location.

2) Market Day is now an application-based event — less space = less room for vendors, so they’re being a bit more selective this year with vendors.  That means that you have to apply and be selected in order to vend. (so I’m special … :)

Anywho, I’m going to be posting a lot of exciting things that I’m creating in the weeks leading up to market day.  In the meantime, check out this video (IN HD!) of me being interviewed by Cat Rocketship of make/break.
