Bachelorette Debauchery

Saturday, May 7th, 2011

It’s a week late, but last Saturday we went out for my friend Steph‘s bachelorette party.  Not the typical bachelorette. That’s not how we roll. No giant plastic penises (peni??) or beads or leis or whatever else.

The plan was to eat sushi, have some lovely homemade desserts at her place and head to a really douchey bar for some dancing.

Sushi at Appare started out the evening. Then we went to Steph’s place for some oreo truffles and amaretto cupcakes with baileys irish cream frosting (Steph and I baked the Thursday before … note the cream cheese frosting was from the Guinness cupcakes I made for my birthday).  Then we went to Uncle Bucks in West Des Moines for some douchery.

All in all, fun was had.  And the douchey guys by us at the bar were actually quite entertaining — they kept hopping up on the stripper pole and making fun of the slutty girls that were actually using the stripper pole. Hilarious.

Also, I would like to point out that I was wearing a dress owned by Steph and it FIT. AND I wasn’t wearing the miraculous bra (yes that cleavage is TRULY miraculous).

I didn’t text Mark all night …

Oh, and I forgot to mention, I made these ultra-gaudy flower pins for everybody to wear as a headband or pin. Here’s Kelly modeling hers.

25

I’m not quite there yet, but the 25th birthday celebration has begun (also known as Calee’s 25th Birthday Parade of Awesomeness).

Parade of Awesomeness

The official 25th birthday celebrations began a few weeks ago with Kelly‘s celebration. For her birthday, we did cake and wine (MollyCake) at Molly‘s place. Molly made an amazing raspberry lemon cake that was beautifully decorated.

Gorgeous!

Tall and short

me n shelly — tallest person in the room + shortest=epically cute.

AND the birthday celebration continued on Kelly’s b-day at Olde Main Brewery in Ames for dollar pint nights. Mmmm … Off Kilter.

ridiculously cute as usual.

Yay… Kelly, Maria and I. I <3 my girlies!

And now, for my b-day celebration!

On Saturday we went to the Appare Steakhouse in Des Moines for some sushi and steak (mostly sushi).  And then we went to the Blue Moon Dueling Piano Bar in West Des Moines.

Molly and I (pseudo roomies!) — I’ve been hanging out/staying at her place some of this month. Molly is awesome!

Cutest Couple ever.

Steph and Nathan — the cutest awesomest couple EVAR. :) Seriously. Look up “made for each other” in the dictionary and you see their picture (not that you can look up a phrase in the dictionary, but hey, you get my drift).

Annnnndddd… no night would be complete without making out with some inanimate object.

This was just at the sushi place.  The piano bar was far less interesting.  We got there and had nowhere to sit. So we ended up on some couches by the bathroom. Kelly and Danielle got a fish bowl, which ended up being given to a bachelorette party. BECAUSE because because … some girl was waiting in line for the bathroom (which was being occupied by a couple that was getting busy) and TOTALLY puked all over herself and the floor right by where we were. Although it was hilarious, it was also disgusting, so we promptly left.

More is to come for the Birthday Parade of Awesomeness ™.  Thursday we shall have cake and some awesome TV watching (the office, project runway, sunny).  For my birthday cake, I requested a Cake Wreck.  Molly and I have something reaallllly awesome in mind. :)

Adria’s Bachelorette Attire

Saturday, June 27th, 2009

I couldn’t wait to blog about this, so I’m blogging on the 25th, but this won’t go public until the 27th.  :)  That way the surprise isn’t spoiled!

My girlies from high school and I are going to Chicago this weekend and we decided to surprise Adria by turning one of our nights into a bachelorette party — laid back of course.

Adria’s friend, Magan who she knows through craftster.org swaps made stenciled t-shirts and I made a crown and sash (which turned into a lei instead) and “naughty” cookies.  I originally was going to make a patchwork sash but couldn’t decide how long to make it since Adria is a good 5-7 inches taller than me.  I also was going to make “party peters” but couldn’t find the appropriate cookie cutter and was tired of going into porn shops looking for one. I decided to use a cookie cutter I already had and use my imagination to come up with something almost as good.  I came up with “party panties” instead. :)

Here’s the crown — I made fabric flowers from leftover fabric from this quilt using this tutorial and added rhinestones and used some dimensional fabric paint (aka puff paint for those of you around when it was rampant in the ’90s)

As you well know, I have absolutely no patience for anything. So the above photos have wet paint. The silver swirls will dry as translucent with silver glitter.

And here is the lei. Also made from fabric flowers.

Also note my medal from the Des Moines Marathon and the Capital Pursuit 10-Miler. Not that they’re as pretty or exciting, but I thought I’d point them out because it’s going to be a long while before I get another one of either of those!

AND here are my Party Panties.  :) They totally did NOT turn out the way I wanted them to. Mostly because I, again, have no patience and wanted to make the frosting when I was on my lunch break on Monday and accidentally added too much milk in my haste. Frosting=runny. I didn’t have $ or time to get more powdered sugar from the store, nor did I want a bag of that lying around my cupboards (you’d be amazed at what I can concoct when I want something sweet)…so I froze the frosting and dealt with it. The yellow was some store-bought that I had in the freezer.  If I could do it again (which I’m sure I will) I’d frost all the panties white first then go back and add all the fun colors. There’s just not enough frosting on the cookies. I might even go as far as to frost them all skin-toned first so there’s more frosting coverage. Oh well.

YAY. I’m soooo excited for this weekend. I’m probably having a blast as you’re reading this. I’ve never pre-blogged before. ;)
