Hey, Des Moines! Come downtown today (from 9–2) for Market Day’s special September Suitcase Showdown. Be sure to hit up the Farmers Market while you’re at it … we’re right next door. Thirty vendors with everything they can fit into suitcases or whatever they can find. Don’t miss it! See you there.

Market Day Tomorrow!

Friday, August 26th, 2011

Hello bloglings. Tomorrow is my first Market Day of the season.  They’ve been going on since May, but I’ve not had a chance to do much crafting until this last month.

For those of you who don’t know and are around Central Iowa, you should come check it out.  It’s pretty awesome.

Actually, for you newbies, here’s a description from their website:  Market Day is an indie craft market: their vendors craft — but they don’t make your grandma’s crafts. At Market Day, shoppers find screenprinted posters and tees, postcards of monsters, stenciled paintings of mermaids, kawaii earrings, macabre pottery, and more. And? They’ve got their share of vintage housewares, clothing and jewelry, too.

Find Market Day at the Des Moines Social Club in the Kirkwood Theater — at 400 Walnut Street in downtown Des Moines, IA. Click here to get directions.

What am I selling? Why dishes of course. But actually, since I moved twice since the last craft show I did, I don’t have any new dishes.  I do, however, have a metric butt-ton of new zippy pouches because these are super easy to transport and are reallllly fun to make.

Zippy pouches are $10 (at Market Day, $12+shipping on etsy). Dishes range from $5-15 for single items and $35-75 for sets (again, 10% more expensive on etsy + shipping).

Also, did I mention that Market Day is from 9 AM-2 PM? COME ON DOWN.

MARKET DAY deals and steals

Monday, July 20th, 2009

Well kiddos, it’s almost that time again: Market Street Media Foundry’s Market Day is this Saturday!

Here’s me and my booth from last Market Day.
For those of you who don’t know what Market Day is … check out the info on MSMF’s website.  It’s Saturday from 9 AM – 2 PM at 118 SE 4th Street in the East Village in Des Moines.  I’ll be there along with a few other artists I’ve blogged about as well as some very talented friends and designers that I haven’t blogged about.

Anyway, I’m going to be crafting up a storm this week for some last-minute things I’d like to have available to everybody at Market Day.

I’m planning to have a couple of really good deals going.  I am planning to do buy-one-get-one-half-off (BOGO?) on my dishes because I’d like to make some new things and I don’t have room in my apartment for any more dishes!  I haven’t quite decided what else to do, but that’s kind of a big deal. :D

I’ll also be selling some crafty craft supplies. I’ve got some fabric that I need to put prices on (between $2 and $5 a piece) and I’ll be selling my bead collection again at 3 pkgs/$1.

AND … here’s a big deal for you blog followers!  If you plan to come to Market Day and would like an even better deal than the dish deal I’m already doing, just do a blog post or advertise me in some way and e-mail me or comment on this post with the link to whatever you did.  I’ll send you a coupon for the special deal.  Ideally, blogging about me is the best, but I know not all of you have blogs, so tweeting about me, my store and my wares is good or whatever works!  I just want to get my name out there.

Anyway, that is all for now. I’ll have some more crafty updates as I make things this week.

last week’s craftsplosion

Monday, June 1st, 2009

Here’s what I came up with last week during my last-minute-pull-stuff-together-for-Market-Day freakout:

birdies and coffee on corningware (see, I need new designs!) I have 6 of these.  exciting.

teatime with gram turquoise mug — “one lump or two?”

birdies and coffee on white teacup/saucer — I sold this to my boss…and she gave it to her daughter who loves it!

again, with the birdies. I love the fluted edges on this plate though. I want a whole set!

*whew*

That’s it for a while.  I received a water pitcher that I’ll do up…and I’m thinking of doing napkin rings and sewing matching napkins to go with them as well.  I want to start doing more sets rather than just random pieces.

Thanks for looking!

market day has arrived!

Saturday, May 30th, 2009

helllooooooo! It’s 5:30 AM and I’m raring to go.

My car’s packed full of crafty things… and I’m ready to hit the road.  My good friend Steph is graciously helping me out today — which means she’s getting up super early on a Saturday morning (what a trooper).  Seriously, I owe that woman! I didn’t even want to get up today, but here I am. Awake, and on my own at 4:48 AM I was up and ready to carpe the diem.

Pix and stuff hopefully later today. I asked Steph to bring her camera since I can’t find the 2GB card I had for the LIFE of me.

more ceramics

Saturday, May 23rd, 2009

I’m preparing for my first ever craft show next weekend and I’m upcycling a buttload of vintage ceramics…fiestaware…pyrex…cornin gware, etc.

Instead of sectioning them out, I decided to dump them all in one post. I hope you don’t mind. I’ll probably have another big post like this next week as well.  I’ve got about 15-20 more pieces to do up between now and then.
