Butterflies in Wonderland Quilt!

Monday, November 9th, 2009

Finally finally finally finished my wonderland quilt (ie. the first quilt top I made ever).

I had it professionally quilted with a butterfly pattern in yellow thread. The back is pink.

I LOVE this fabric line. It’s sold out pretty much everywhere though. :(

Anyway, my camera died when I was taking photos, so here’s all I  have:

I got photos professionally taken!  I had been asked to send some photos of my work to The Nest magazine, so I had a local photographer take some photos of my work to send them.

more wings!

Friday, June 5th, 2009

wow this is  a pretty productive morning (for blogging anyway — not so much for getting ready for work!).

I got more wings from my friend Kim the other day and these are GLORIOUS!  I’ve asked her to develop a painting for me in the style of the sketch page she sent and I’m going to refine one of these sketches into a tattoo for my ankle.  She’s sooooo good at wings…and she’s really great with color combos!

My Favorite Set of Wings

I like the wing as is, but I want to add some things to it to see what it would look like. Ideally I’d have a wrap-around type piece, but if I can’t come up with anything, I’d be happy to have this little guy on my ankle…and a coordinating one on my other ankle after I complete my first race since my injury (5Ks don’t count. we’re talking a 10K—half marathon here!). Ideally…when I complete a half-marathon in under 2 hours.

wings!

this will be short, and I hope my friend Kim doesn’t mind… but she’s been working on some wings for me for the tattoo I’ve been wanting to get since I ran my marathon. I said if I ran a marathon, I’d get a tattoo… and I ran a marathon…but no tattoo yet!

I want to get wings on my ankles, like hermes..but not so typical. My friend Kim does fabulous artwork and she has lovely butterfly wings that everybody always compliments her on — and of course that I love as well.  I’ve been working with her on her website for almost a year now.. and we’re almost finished. ;) Finally!  Anyway, she’s working on these wings for me as kind of a barter/trade deal. My friend Mark is going to do the tattoo most likely (maybe as a barter/trade for doing his website?)

Anyway… here’s what she’s cooked up in some sketchies. These are the ones I loved and thought she should refine.  I’m excited! She always picks the best colors too.

this one's pretty faint, but I really liked where it's going.

I love where this is going. She does such cool stuff!

I hope she doesn't mind me sharing since this was from her sketchbook... but it's soooo pretty!
