FO Friday: Stella Quilt

Friday, January 6th, 2012

You may remember this quilt top from 2009 when I originally had it slated to become a finished quilt for my niece’s first birthday.

Well, as you may know I’m really bad about finishing quilts. Mostly because it isn’t cheap to get them quilted professionally and up until I got my new sewing machine recently it was a huge pain to quilt them myself.

So what I’m saying is that my niece didn’t get this for her birthday in 2009.

It ended up being a lovely baby shower gift for my friend Adria who is due in February. Adria made me a quilt a LONG time ago and is responsible for my slightly expensive fabric hoarding obsession.

Also, I posted the photos on my flickr last week and cutable.com picked one of my images and featured this quilt on their flickr Friday on December 1. I couldn’t share until after her baby shower for obvious reasons.

Le Bebe Party

Monday, December 26th, 2011

I mentioned before that one of my best friends is having a baby in February. So her sister and I put together a baby shower for her at the beginning of the month. We used a lot of stuff from the Martha Stewart Book Baby Shower for inspiration and for artwork for invites and such. I edited the colors to match our scheme a bit better and a laid out the invites a lot nicer. ;) Here is the invite:

And Adria had somebody in her boyfriend’s family make a delicious cake. She matched the decoration to the invite! How cute.

Audry, Adria’s sister went a little overboard with the whole thing, but it turned out absolutely beautiful and everybody had a good time. Here’s the table decorations. FLOWERS. Yes. Flowers. Not stupid rattle confetti. Lovely!

And of course, Adria got a lot of loot. She likes loot.

One of my other besties from back home, Stephanie, brought her little girl with. I haven’t seen her daughter, Bella, since she was brand spankin’ new. She was a lot of fun and super friendly. She helped me take pictures!

Here’s Stephanie, Bella, Adria and me at the party. I don’t remember the last time we were all together … oh wait. It was January 2010 and Stephanie was pregnant! :)

Did I mention that I make onesies?  I think I did a couple of other times.  I do, but I don’t sell them.  Just for gifts.

Check this cutie out! This is my friend Dani‘s niece.

She is TOO cute!  So cute, that I used the last of my wonderland fabric for her tie in the 2nd pic. :)

Ruffle Butt Onsies!

Tuesday, June 29th, 2010

Huh huh huh, you said butt.

A friend of mine is having a baby soon and she had a shower last weekend. I made her a cute blanket but wanted something else to put with it. I had made some applique onsies in the past, but wasn’t in the mood to deal with my sewing machine and small little pieces.

So, I found an adorable solution: ruffle butt onsies!

There is a pretty fabulous tutorial online already, so they were pretty easy to figure out.

Without further ado, here are the pix of the finished product. Enjoy! They are cute.

baby blanket for a friend

Monday, June 21st, 2010

I made this cute baby blanket for a friend. It was really easy. I actually just used my method from handmade napkins but used larger pieces of fabric.  I sewed with fleece for the first (and hopefully last) time. That was an adventure! Fuzzies everywhere.  I almost poked my eye out finishing this thing too! My needle busted in half on the very last few stitches, flying up in the air and BARELY missing my eyeball. I should maybe think about wearing safety goggles?

Anyway, here it is! One side is fleece and the other side is cotton. She’s having a girl.  I know she likes pinks and teals together so I picked a fabric that I thought she would like.  It seems like something she would wear on a bag, scarf or another accessory.  I hope she loves it!

help me get to my friend’s baby shower!

Monday, June 7th, 2010

As per usual, I’m broke.  I just found out my friend back home is having a baby shower on the 19th. My friend that I had tentatively planned to carpool with is leaving too early for me to go with her (I have to work on Friday).

Anyway, I need $50 for gas to get back to my girlfriend’s shower.  I haven’t been around since she’s been pregnant — she lives 2.5 hours away and works a completely different schedule than me.  I really want to be able to get back for her shower.  I’ve got her gift in the works (making it, of course, and will blog about it when it’s done).

Can you help me out by taking some of my creations off my hands? I do free shipping to Des Moines and Ames, and I am even willing to negotiate pricing if you convo me before purchasing.  I just really want to get back for this baby shower, and I can’t afford to do it this month.

Here are some of my pieces currently for sale.

Thanks, and I appreciate any help that I can get!

Butterflies in Wonderland baby or lap quilt — INSANE price

Monday, April 26th, 2010

I’ve decided to drastically reduce the price of my Butterflies in Wonderland quilt on etsy.  This quilt is made from a now-discontinued line of fabric (my absolute FAVORITE) by momo from Moda.  The machine quilting is done in a contrasting yellow stitching and is in a butterfly pattern — which, when seen as a whole, turns into a centered flower pattern.

Original price: $300
Sale Price: $85

It’s almost killing me to do this — I love this quilt so much, but I’m moving soon and need some of my items to go.  I love this quilt and it’s hard to get rid of it, but it’s just got to go!

Le Bebe Quilt

Thursday, January 7th, 2010

I made this quilt out of two tops I had lying around for my niece for Christmas. I had planned a cuter quilt, but I didn’t have the money to get it professionally quilted, so I put two of my tops together and qulited this blanket with wavy stitching. The stitching is pink on one side and yellow on the other.

AND surprisingly, she loved it. She’s one.  I figured she wouldn’t care, but she picked out all the patterns and she wrapped her dolly up in it. Super cute!

Here are some photos and of course, action shots!

appliqued onsies!

Saturday, June 20th, 2009

FINALLY I get to blog about this!

I had a baby shower for my friend Lindsay today and I made her little man a few onsies and a couple for my niece. I couldn’t blog about it until now because I was afraid she might see.  I tweeted about it a while back because I figured she isn’t on twitter, so she wouldn’t see. ;)

Without further ado, here are my onsies!

I’ve had a few requests for me to post a listing for these on my etsy store, but I had to hand stitch these and for now, it’s not really an option for me since I don’t have that kind of time (or won’t shortly since my co-worker will be leaving soon so I may have more to do at work).

I might list the ones with the ties. Those I can machine stitch – but my machine is broken right now, so it doesn’t really even matter! I’ll have to wait to see when I get a new machine. Maybe the new machine will work better and do tighter curves so I may be able to machine stitch the whole thing.

Baby’s First Tattoo…

Sunday, February 22nd, 2009

I finished knitting a sweater out of the Stitch-n-Bitch Nation book called “Baby’s First Tattoo”.

It’s for my neice, Emee, and I made the 6 month size. I need to sew the snaps on it yet, but here are some pictures of the finished piece.

Also, I’m going to make another one and add an inch or an inch and a half in the back b/c it pretty much fits me and it would make a cute crop sweater (maybe with a different “tattoo”)

Here are some pix. Enjoy.
